Hinds County Busted Mugshots is a private reference source, not a government office. It cannot confirm live custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the responsible public office directly for those services.

Hinds Sheriff and Records

For a current Hinds County custody question, the official starting point is the Hinds County Inmate Query. For an existing booking record, jail-docket entry, or booking-photo request, contact the sheriff’s Records unit. Requests should be written, narrow, and include the person’s name and approximate booking date. Ask for the current procedure and cost estimate before work starts.

Choose the Right Record Holder

The agency that made an arrest can be different from the office that has the county intake record. Match the request to the record needed.

  • Current Hinds County custody: use the official inmate query, then detention staff if a result needs confirmation.
  • County booking record or photo: ask Hinds Sheriff Records for the existing booking record or jail-docket entry.
  • Jackson incident report: Jackson Police lists 601-960-1341 for police reports and 601-960-1234 for non-emergency matters.
  • Clinton incident report: Clinton Police Records is at 305 Monroe Street; 601-924-5252, extensions 141 and 140. The city lists a $20 cash in-person police-report path.
  • Byram incident report: Byram Police is at 141 Southpointe Drive; 601-372-7747 or 601-372-2327. Its public-record form requests one clear subject and a case number when available.
  • Court disposition: Hinds Circuit Clerk first district, 601-968-6628, or second district, 601-857-8038, can identify the appropriate court record route.

Other Custody Systems

Use MDOC when a person is in Mississippi state custody or supervision. MDOC says public-record requests must be in writing. For a federal custody question, use the BOP inmate locator; for immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Those systems do not replace a Hinds County booking query. For qualifying custody-change notices, Mississippi SAVIN/VINE is available through VINELink.
